In the marriage of a lifetime there is really only now oh....future visions and plans are necessary fuel to guide your craft down this river rather than another but even delighted dream-spinning sizzles in this minute this second this heart-beat now when you spot a new brown fleck in his eye or your fingers graze her skin lush as melon In this crazed charge to make a living it's an earthy art to live now inhaling her laughter green as spring mint riding the pitch of his voice through the story of his day always the twitchy demons waltzing you out of these moist pastures to the arid lists of never-finished tasks a promise of perfection always just out of reach it's now while you mince this sharp, spouting onion now as you note the trembling corner of your client's mouth when irritation prickles when anger clogs your throat in the whisper of truth telling when your breast-bone pounds belief perfection only happens in this flawed specific moment when the blimp on your nose stands in stark relief And now we have gathered with all the love we bear you to witness once again this ancient sacred rite while we wait to hear you tell us that you want to stay together we dust off our own promises review them in this light in this moment we hold this circle for you we taste this gift you give us now there is really only now. |
