General B.A. from University of Toronto in 1969, with concentration in Latin American history and first class honours. M.A. from Adult Education Department, Ontario Institute for Studies in Education in 1975, with thesis on the potential and limits of the ideas of Brazilian popular educator Paulo Freire. Ed.D. from Adult Education Department, Ontario Institute for Studies in Education/ University of Toronto in 1995, with thesis on the Canadian labour movement as an adult learning environment. University-Based Work 1970. One of four students to initiate a student-led credit seminar in the Department of Adult Education, OISE, on AAdult Education and Canadian Poverty@, which continued for several years. 1972-76. Invited as resource person in several courses at OISE, particularly during summer of 1976, with visiting professor Paulo Freire. 1979-2002. Invited as resource person by Professor Alan Thomas in all years when the advanced seminar on labour education was offered at the Department of Adult Education, and often as guest lecturer on learning in social movements for the introductory course on the theory and practice of adult education. 1974-90. Invited as resource person by Professor Christian Bay each year to his graduate seminar on political theory, Department of Political Science, University of Toronto. 1989 and 1990. Co-instructor with Professor Budd Hall of course on Peace Education at Department of Adult Education, Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. 1990-94. Contracted each year by the Faculty of Environmental Studies to teach the graduate course on Process Consultation. 1990-2002. Occasional speaker in seminars at Humber College, Laurentian University, Queen=s University, Dalhousie University, University of British Columbia, Université de Montréal. 1993-95. Resource person at courses of the Labour Studies Program, McMaster University; designed and led with Barb Thomas ASolidarity Skills for Labour Activists@. 1996 and 1998. Resource person in a three day seminar for the Labour Studies Program, Simon Fraser University, on union administration, as part of the pilot of a Foundation Program for senior labour leaders. 1997, 1998, 2000 and 2001. Led the first year course "Introduction to Issues in Labour Studies", in the Labour Studies Program, McMaster University. 1997-2001. Taught graduate courses, mostly on labour education, each year at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto. Since July 2000. Coordinator, Centre for the Study of Education and Work, Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto. (a part-time position, as senior research officer). 2001. Chargé de cours, "Syndicalisme et société", Département de relations industrielles, Université de Montréal. 1993-2002. Participant in annual conferences of the Canadian Association for the Study of Adult Education, in various parts of Canada. Co-presenter on panels, and once keynote speaker for the joint session of CASAE and CAAE in Winnipeg, Manitoba. 2000.
