Professional Activity in Adult Education 1978-86 Invited to speak at three conferences of the Institut canadien d=education des adultes in Montreal, in French, on issues of international cooperation, technological change and participatory education, particularly as they affected workers. 1980-90 Invited to speak, and to lead workshops, at the World Assemblies of the International Council for Adult Education, in France and Argentina. Led a seminar for the ICAE executive on worker education in Sri Lanka, and led a tour of Mexican musicians and educators under ICAE sponsorship through the front-line states of southern Africa. 1980-93. Labour representative in successive federal and provincial task forces on vocational training, including ALearning a Living@ (1983), APeople and Skills in the Global Economy@ (1991) and ALocal Board Consultations@ (1992). 1978-2001. Producer and participant in arts and culture initiatives, including documentary film making (AStarting from Nina: The Politics of Learning@, ARe-Connecting@, ABorn on the 28th of November@), eight years in the Mayworks Festival of Working People and the Arts, and twelve years in the Ontario Workers Arts and Heritage Centre. 1994-96 Labour nominee in two working groups of the Canadian Labour Force Development Board, dealing with standards for the purchase of training and with prior learning assessment. Also labour nominee to the Prior Learning Assessment Group, Council of Regents, Ontario community colleges. 1993-97 Elected to the board of the Canadian Association for Adult Education, active in the founding of the North American Alliance for Adult Education, and participant in the Canadian Advisory Group of the International Council for Adult Education. 1990-2002. Occasional involvement in Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace, as a volunteer, consultant and co-facilitator of meetings and workshops. In 2002, facilitated the Triennial Orientation Assembly of the organization. 2001-2002.
